Proving he is certainly a champion for all seasons, Ray was instrumental in helping Phase II to become 2008 National Panorama Champions.
Acting as bandmaster, he drilled the players at rehearsals, worked assiduously on phrasing and helped to sharpened the band’s overall performance. The partnership with Len “Boogsie” Sharpe was pan lovers’ idea of a dream team. Their relationship goes way back when Ray was the leader of Starlift Steel Orchestra and Boogsie was his star player. Boogsie later left and with others formed Phase II.
Boogsie’s arrangement of “Musical Vengeance” and Ray’s contribution to Phase II’s precision turned the finals into a no contest.
